Eagles Trace Project Build with FinnBuilder
Engineer: Willie Coetzee
Client: Private Individuals
In 2007 the new housing estate of Eagles Trace was proclaimed and developers Lyons and Davidson bought up a number of pieces of land in order to build for private clients. Their central idea was to build very large homes but incorporate as many cost saving ideas as possible so that their homes would represent outstanding value for money to consumers in the market.
Their research into the most cost effective ways of building led them to FinnBUILDER and we engaged with them in the design and construction of the houses. They worked closely with interior designers to make sure that the house plans offered functional and superior living spaces. They travelled to China to negotiate good prices for ceramic tiles, sanitary ware, built in cupboards and kitchen units.
Construction of the six houses began in 2008 and continued for most of 2009. The biggest house was 980 m2 and the smallest 500 m2. The houses found ready acceptance with consumers and all of the houses were sold in a six month time frame from completion, at a time when many other developers were sitting with stock for extended periods, given the financial downturn at that time.
